Jan Andersson

Jan Andersson was born in 1955 in Skövde. Educated first at esthetic folk high school (76-78) and later advanced studies for four years at Hellidens Grafikskola in Tidaholm in lithographic hand printing from stone and plate (86-91). Educated at the Art School in Stockholm at the Department of Visual Education (92-95). Jan’s range of images ranges from naturalistic to an inner and abstract world. He works in a broad perspective with different techniques such as oil, acrylic collage, watercolor, to the lithographic hand print from stone and plate.

A great interest in the Indians of North America has existed since childhood. The comic book collection, books and films have inspired his personal Native American images for the past 20 years. His way of working with different techniques has contributed to an exciting development in the images. One can read pride, mystery and the spirit world in his Indian pictures, as well as a great longing for freedom.
